[Trafalgar] Escaramuza en Trinidad

Cerca las islas españolas del Mar de Cuba, un contingente de buques británicos han estado atacando a los mercantes españoles que regresaban a la Peninsula. La Armada española, decide tenderles una emboscada para terminar con los ataques.

Near the Spanish islands of the Sea of Cuba, a contingent of British ships they have been attacking the Spanish merchant who returned to the Peninsula. The Spanish Armada, decides ambush to end the attacks.

Para esta partida de introducción, jugamos el primer escenario del reglamento, con dos flotas de 500 puntos. Por un la do, la flota británica, un el HMS Goliath, un 3ª Calse de 74 cañones y dos fragatas de escolta, la Medusa y la Indefatigable. Por parte de la Armada española, tenemos al Bahama, un 3ª Clase de 74 cañones, las fragatas Medea y Santa Clara y el grupo de cañoneras B-100

For this battle, we play the first scenario of the rulebook, with two fleets of 500 points. On the one hand, the British fleet hava a HMS Goliath, a 3rd Rate,with 74 guns and two escort frigates, Indefatigable and Medusa. By the Spanish Armada, the Bahama have a 3rd Rate, with 74 guns, the Medea and Santa Clara frigates and gunboats group B-100s.

Los primeros turnos, fueron básicamente de maniobra. Los españoles se encontraron muy a sotavento y se esforzaron en ganar mejores posiciones para cunado llegaran los buques británicos. Las cañoneras, gracias a que podían desplazarse, tanto a vela, como a remos, fueron las primeras en entrar en fuego contra una de las fragatas británicas, la  Indefatigable, a la que en un primer momento, consiguieron dañar levemente en el casco. 

The early turns, were basically maneuver. The Spaniards found to leeward and strove to win best positions for British ships-law arrived. Gunboats, which could move through both sail and oars, were the first to shoot a British frigates, the  Indefatigable, which at first, got slightly damaged in the hull.

Al acortar las distancias, la  Indefatigable, disparó con todos los cañones de su costado, destruyendo a una de las cañoneras españolas.

By shortening distances, the  Indefatigable, with all the guns fired from his side, destroying one of the Spanish gunboats.

Las fragatas británicas se dividen para rodear una pequeña isla, con lo que la flota española, envia a la Medea a por una de las fragatas que ya ha sido dañada por las cañoneras, mientras el resto maniobran para hacer frente a la segunda fragata y al Goliath.

British frigates are divided to surround a small island, which the Spanish fleet sent to the Medea to one of the frigates that has already been damaged by gunboats, while the rest are maneuvering to face the second frigate and HMS Goliath.

La Medea y la  Indefatigable, empiezan un duro intercambio de disparos a media distancia, mientras las dos fragatas se van acercando más y más.

Medea and  Indefatigable, they begin a tough exchange of fire in the middle distance, while the two frigates are approaching more and more.

Mientras tanto, el Bahama, maniobra y se situa en posición para atacar a la fragata Medusa.

Pero el capitán de la fragata británica, viendo el peligro, efectua una rápida maniobra de cambio de rumbo, con la intención de pasar de largo el buque español y cortar su estela. Y si se tercia, poder descargar una andanada de enfilada con sus cañones al navío español.

El problema surge cuando el capitán británico se da cuenta de que no ha visto a la fragata Santa Clara, que ha maniobrado por detrás del Bahama. Cuando la fraga inglesa intenta cruzar la estela del Bahama, recibe una doble descarga desde los buques españoles. 

The problem arises when the British captain realizes he has not seen the frigate Santa Clara, who has maneuvered behind the Bahama. When the English fraga trying to cross the wake of Bahama, received gunshots from the two Spanish ships.

La lluvia de fuego, hace prender el fuego en la cubierta de la fragata Medusa. Los marineros, realizan grandes esfuerzos por apagar los fuegos, pero finalmente, han de abandonar el barco, que permanece ardiendo hasta explotar.

The rain of fire, makes light the fire on the deck of the frigate Medusa. Sailors, make great efforts to put out the fires, but eventually have to abandon ship, which remains burning to explode.

Mientras tanto, el duelo de las fragatas continua, per lo fragata británica, demuestra la importancia de tener el barlovento. Tras un par de maniobras, consigue situar sus cañones a popa de la fragata española y realiza un disparo de enfilada que daña gravemente a la Medea. Esto le deja el camino despejado para romper el contacto y abandonar el campo de batalla.

Meanwhile, the duel of the frigates, continuous, but British frigate, demonstrates the importance of having the windward. After a few maneuvers, get their guns placed aft of the Spanish frigate and hits a enfilada that seriously harms the Medea. This leaves the way clear to break contact and leave the battlefield.

Finalmente, los británicos consiguieron sacar dos de sus tres barcos del campo de batalla, consiguiendo, así, la victoria.

Finally, the British managed to draw two of their three boats battlefield, getting, well, the victory.

La verdad es que hacia muchísimo que no jugábamos a Trafalgar, es un juego sencillo y divertido, lejos de otros juegos más complejos como Plomo y Salitre, pero que para jugar partidas con más de dos barcos está muy bien. ¡La gente se divirtió y todos salimos con buenas sensaciones y con ganas de jugar una nueva partida!!

The truth is that by far not played at Trafalgar, is a simple and fun, away from other more complex games like Plomo y Salitre game, but to play games with more than two ships is fine. People had fun and we all left with good feelings and wanting to play a new game!!
