We progress witthe ampliation of our modular table. As we discussed, of this six modules three are being dedicated to a river, one to an extensive hill and two are going to be urban. So, once the technical issues with the porex slabs have ben fixed, we are ready to start and show you the progress.

We decided to start by the most difficult part: the river. Before doing anything we doused ourselves in Youtube knowledge from people devoted to railway modelling (Links at the end of the post).

As discussed in the previous entry, we decided that the river sections are going to enter and leave each module by the middle of it, so we marked the river section in blue and, approximately, the depresion area around it in black. The inclination was also marked at the sides of the slab in a manner that they coincide with each other to allow extra combinations.

As already discussed, after viewing several tutorials, we decided to eliminate all the foam in the blue area and use the MDF board as the river's bed, properly textured of couse.

We also modified the way the porex was fixed to the MDF. In the first table we used white glue and, as result, some modules have cambered slightly. This time we used a hot glue pistol and it seems to have rendered better, quicker results.

Once all pieces were well glued it was time to work the river banks. At some points we wanted gentle slopes so troops can get to the river easily. In other areas they were more abrupt searching for impassable terrain in absence of a bridge.

The main work was done via cutter. After achieving a rough approximate of our desires, we smoothed everything with polished sandpaper.

With the main river body done the next step is to add putty to texturise it and add some additional levels to reinforce the realism sensation. The last work for that day was to trace the roads and give them their basic texture with a chisel. Then a second sandpaper swept left the pieces ready for the next day.
