Tropas Húngaras de Oriol y Soviéticas al mando de Ivan, midieron sus fuerzas en una Batalla campal a 2000 puntos. Las tropas de Hungría estaban de estreno, ya que era la primera vez que entraban en combate, vamos, que Oriol nunca las había utilizado y para Ivan era su primera batalla, así que usó el ejercito ruso de Sergi para esta batalla de iniciación.
Oriol's Hungarian forces and Ivan's Soviets clashed in a 2000 points battle. The Hungarians came to the table for their first time whilst it also was the first battle for Ivan, who used Sergi's Soviets in this intro.
Preparamos una mesa sencilla, de 180x120, que para estos puntos (2000) y esta escala es más que suficiente, en épocas o escenarios más tardíos, el alcance de las armas pide que se juegue en mesas de mayor tamaño. Los soviéticos se decidieron por una lista mayoritariamente de infantería, con un pequeño apoyo de blindados y cañones, por el contrario, los húngaros tiraron de blitz y sacaran una buena colección de tanques, tanto propios como cedidos por los alemanes con algo de infantería de apoyo.
We prepared a simple table, 180x120, which is enough for an engagement of this scale. The Soviets went with a mostly infantry army, with some armoured and artillery support, while the Hungarians, on the contrary, massively employed tanks, both indigenous and German, with some infantry as support.
La batalla se inició con el avance de los húngaros por toda la línea de batalla, con dos alas de blindados tomando posiciones de disparo y la infantería más cautelosa, avanzando por el centro. Los rusos intentaron responder a estos primeros movimiento, pero con poco acierto. Por su parte, las topas húngaras si que pudieron causar varias bajas a los rusos, especialmente a las unidades de infantería del centro, eliminado a alguna escuadra y algunos equipos de MG de apoyo.
The battle started with the Hungarians advancing all along the front, their two armoured wings seeking firing positions while the infantry moved cautiously at t he center. The Reds tried to answer this movements with little sucess while the Hungarians managed to cause some casualties among their foes, specially agaisnt the infantry at the center, wiping out some squads and supporting MGs.
La respuesta rusa fue contundente, con los cañones de 122mm disparando a la infantería, eliminando a algunas escuadras y forzando a retroceder a otras. Los pocos T-34 rusos maniobraron para fijar a las tropas de su flanco y también consiguieron algún buen resultado inmovilizando temporalmente a un StuG III y dañando a algún otro tanque. Donde la cosa se empezaba a complicar para las fuerzas del la hoz y el martillo era en su flanco derecho, los blindados húngaros, aprovechando el mayor alcance efectivo de sus armas anti-persona, que las anti-tanque de los cañones de 122mm fueron batiendo todas las piezas de la artillería rusa, eliminándolas una a una, sin que estas pudieran responder.
The Soviet artillery's response was brutal tough, with 122mm cannons smashing some Axis infantry squads and forcing others to retreat. The few T34 manouvred to fix the enemy at their flank and also managed to immovilize and damage some tanks and StuG III. But at the right flank things were going ugly for the Hammer and the Sickle, as Hungarian armour were eliminating the 122 cannons thanks to their superior firing range without suffering any retaliatory fire.

With the Soviet right flank destroyed, the Hungarian tanks penetrated in depth encircling the Reds and attacking their infantry by the side and the rear, which forced the Soviet CO to order a general retreat of the battlefield, thus leaving the Magyars as victors.
