Tras la caída del Emperador y la destrucción de la segunda Estrella de la Muerte, los restos de las tropas del Imperio quedaron divididas en multitud de Señores de la Guerra y Caciques locales que se oponen a las fuerzas de la Nueva República. Una baliza de socorro se activa cerca de un mundo del borde exterior, los códigos parecen de una nave de transporte de oficiales de alta graduación de la Armada Imperial. Dos Almirantes rivales se disponen a enviar a sus fuerzas a la zona para intentar rescatar al VIP antes que sus rivales o que la Nueva República pueda actuar.
After the fall of the Emperor and the destruction of the second Death Star, the Imperial remnants were divided among several warlords and petty fiefdoms opposing he New Republic. An S.O.S beacon activates near a world in the Outer Rim, it's codes seamingly coming from a transport ship carrying high officers of the Imperial Navy. Two competing Admiralssent their forces to the area to rescue the VIP before their rivals or the New Republic act.
Empezamos el año con una partida de Star Wars Armada a 400 puntos entre las flotas del Imperio de Pau y la de Sergi (Pau contó con la ayuda de Alberto para dirigir y mover sus naves). Para esta partida aun usamos las reglas básicas de la primera caja básica, hemos de revisar las modificaciones y ampliaciones aparecidas con los último suplementos, como el abordaje de naves enemigas. Por el momento, nos centramos en retomar el contacto con las reglas y las misiones básicas.
We begin the year with a 400 points game of Star Wars Armada between the Imperial fleets of Pau and Sergi (Pau was helped by Alberto who commanded some of the ships). Forthis match we used the basic rules of the first basic box, we must take a look at the modifications and expansions of the later supplements, like ship boarding. By now we will concentrate in recovering contact with the game itself.
Para esta misión, Pau preparó una flota polivalente, compuesta por un Destructor Estelar, dos Clase Victoria y un Gladiador, así como un par de escuadrones de cazas mandalorianos. Por su parte, Sergi desplegó solo dos naves capitales, dos Clase Victoria muy modificados y mejorados, una buena cantidad de escuadrones TIE y contrató a dos mercenarios, Boba Fett y IG-88.
For this mission, Pau prepared a polivalent fleet including Two Victoria star destroyers, an Imperial one and a Gladiator alongside a couple of Mandalorian fighter wings. Sergi deployd only two capital ships: two heavily modified Victoria class and several TIE wings, supported by two mercenaries: Boba Fett and IG-88.
Con dos estrategias muy contrapuestas, las naves de ambas flotas saltaron del hiperespacio listas para el combate. Pau y Alberto dividieron su flota para flanquear a los Victoria enemigos y tratar de aprovechar su superioridad numérica. Por su parte, Sergi, mantuvo a sus Destructores muy juntos, para apoyarse mutuamente el uno al otro, mientras las unidades de TIE conseguían la superioridad aérea en el campo de batalla y empezaban a debilitar los escudos y cascos de las naves enemigas.
With this different approaches both fleets jumped out of the hyperspace ready for combat. Pau and Alberto divided their ships in a pincer maneuver takign advantage of their superior numbers. Meanwhile, Sergi kept his destroyers close together to support each other while the TIE units achieved void superiority weakening the enemy shields.
Inicialmente, los planes de Sergi parecieron dar buenos resultados y pudo enfrentarse a las naves de Pau y Alberto una a una, ganando una superioridad numérica momentánea para atacar a las naves enemigas. Los TIE, aun perdiendo algunos escuadrones, consiguieron eliminar a los Cazas Mandalorianos, mientras Boba y IG-88 se lanzan a por los escudos posteriores del Destructor Estelar y empiezan a causar daños en la estructura de la nave capitana enemiga.
At first, Sergi's plans went good as he confronted Pau and Alberto's ships one by one, achieving local numerical superiority. The TIE, even if losing several wings, managed to wipe out one of the Mandalorian fighters and the mercenaries damaged the flagship's hull after disabling her rear shields.
Con un ataque combinado de los TIE y los Victoria, el Gladiator enemigo es destruido además de que el Victoria II de Sergi consigue rescatar al VIP gracias al sus rayos tractores y remolcando la cápsula a los hangares de la nave. Pero el Destructor Estelar tiene algo que decir y tras maniobrar para sobrepasar el flanco de los Victoria, empieza a castigar los escudos de las naves enemigas, gracias a una tremenda potencia de fuego.
With a combined attack from both the TIE and the Victoria, Pau's Gladiator was destroyed. Sergi's Victoria II manage to rescue the VIP thank to its tractor beam towing the rescue capsule back to her hangars. But the Imperial class destroyer has a thing or two to say about this and, after flanking Sergi's capital ships, obliterates their shields.
Los Victoria rompen la línea de Pau y Alberto y empiezan a alejarse a toda máquina con su objetivo, pero el Destructor Estelar y los dos Victoria I consigue rodear a sus enemigos. Los TIE se lanzan a por el Destructor Estelar, consiguiendo sobrecargar todos sus escudos, mientras los Victoria de Sergi abren fuego sobre el causando daños graves en la nave capitana enemiga, pero los dos Victoria I al mando de Alberto, toman la posición adecuada para sobrecargar y destruir al Victoria I de Sergi.
Sergi's Victorias break the line of their enemies and rush to break contact, but Pau and Alberto's surviving capital ships surround them. Sergi send his TIE to harass the Imperial, overloading all her shields and the Victoria open fire against Pau's flagship, wreaking havoc among her. Taking revenge of this insult, Alberto's Victoria I salvos blow up that of Sergi as they try to flee.
Al final, gracias al fuego de los TIE y los Mercenarios (Boba y IG) el Destructor Estelar es destruido, mientras el Victoria II intenta reparar sus escudos para intentar escapar y poder saltar al hiperespacio. Pero uno de los Victoria I de Alberto consigue varios impactos directos y finalmente destruye al Victoria II.
Al final Victoria de Pau y Alberto en el último minuto.
In the end, TIE and mercenary fire manage to finish off the Imperial, leaving it a crippled hulk. But at the last second, moments before Sergi's remaining capital ship jumps to the hyperspace carrying the VIP, One of Alberto's Victoria I scores several hits against her engine, causing several internal exlosions and thus leaving she another crippled hulk unable to flee and ready for the taking.
The game ended as a last moment victory for Pau and Alberto.
